Semana Santa at Rocky Point

This past weekend was Semana Santa or Holy Week in Rocky Point, bringing as many as 75,000 visitors, for probably the biggest of all of Mexico’s holidays.  Certainly, the Princesa de Penasco was a buz of activity at the pools and on the beach, and even overhead as a federal police helicopter checked up on all of us about once per hour.

The vendors on the beach looked very busy as did the restaurants and other merchants.  Hotels and condo rentals were 100% full, receiving their share of the over $2.2 million USD reportedly spent by the visitors.

Remembering the “reason for the season”, we took a ten minute walk down the beach from Princesa A109 and attended Easter Sunrise service on Sandy Beach, by the Rocky Point Family of God church.
